Your business already works. We make it work on purpose.
OPSA is a small, hands-on operations consultancy. We sit inside your business for a few weeks, write down how the work really happens, find where time and money leak out, and hand you a plan your team can actually run without us.
Growth usually breaks the process before it breaks the people
Most of the companies that contact OPSA are not in trouble. They are busy. Orders went up, headcount went up, and the informal habits that worked at eight employees started to creak at thirty. Nobody wrote anything down, so every exception runs through the owner.
We are not here to hand you a bound report and leave. We work in your building, with your staff, using your numbers. By the end of an engagement you own a set of written procedures, a short list of measures that matter, and a realistic sequence for fixing things — ordered by payback, not by ambition.
- Every recommendation is costed and tied to a named owner inside your business.
- We use the systems you already pay for before proposing anything new.
- You keep all documentation, templates and spreadsheets we produce.
Six services, one objective: fewer surprises next quarter
Engagements are usually built from two or three of these. Nothing here requires you to replace your software or restructure your team.
Operations Assessment
A two-week diagnostic of how work moves through your business, ending in a costed, prioritised action list.
Process Documentation
Plain-English written procedures and checklists that survive staff turnover and shorten onboarding.
Supply & Inventory Planning
Reorder points, safety stock and supplier scorecards that stop the twin problems of stockouts and dead stock.
Reporting & Analytics
A one-page operating dashboard built from data you already collect, refreshed without manual rekeying.
Team Training
Practical half-day workshops so supervisors can run the new process without calling a consultant.
Fractional Ops Support
A senior operations brain for two to four days a month, on a rolling agreement you can end with 30 days' notice.
Figures cover completed OPSA engagements from January 2016 to June 2026 and are reviewed each quarter. Results vary by client; nothing on this page is a guarantee of a specific outcome.
A four-stage engagement, priced before it starts
You always know what happens next, who is doing it, and what it costs. No open-ended hourly billing.
1. Listen
A structured conversation with the owner and two or three key staff. We agree what "better" would look like in numbers.
2. Map
We follow the work end to end, time the steps, and draw the process exactly as it happens today — not as the manual claims.
3. Quantify
Each bottleneck gets a dollar figure and a fix, ranked by payback period so you can choose where to start.
4. Hand over
Written procedures, a one-page dashboard and a working session with the people who will run it after we leave.
What clients say when the project closes
Testimonials are published with written permission. Company names are shortened where a client asked us to.
“We had six people doing the same reconciliation slightly differently. Michael's team put it on one page in three weeks. Month-end went from four days to one.”
“What I appreciated was that nothing was theoretical. They stood on the floor with a stopwatch and a clipboard for two days before they said a word about improvements.”
“Honest scoping. They told us one of the three things we asked for wasn't worth paying them to do, and showed our office manager how to handle it herself.”
Based on Magazine Street, working across the Mid-Atlantic
OPSA's office sits in Richmond's Shockoe Bottom, a short drive from the manufacturing and distribution corridor along I-95. Most of our on-site work happens within a three-hour radius — Richmond, Hampton Roads, Northern Virginia, Baltimore, the Research Triangle and Washington DC.
Outside that radius we work remotely, with one or two travel weeks built into the schedule where a project genuinely needs boots on the floor. We say so in the proposal rather than discovering it later.
- On site: Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Washington DC, Delaware
- Remote and hybrid: anywhere in the continental United States
- Office hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 6:00pm Eastern Time
Questions we are asked before the first call
A longer list lives on our FAQ page.
Do we have to stop working while you are here?
No. Everything we do is designed around a business that is still shipping, still answering the phone and still invoicing. Observation happens during normal working hours, interviews are booked in 30–45 minute blocks, and we never require a shutdown.
How small is too small for OPSA?
Our typical client has between 8 and 250 employees. Below roughly six people the honest answer is usually that a half-day advisory session is enough, and we will tell you that rather than sell a project.
Will you try to sell us software?
We do not resell software and we take no commission or referral fee from any vendor. If a tool is genuinely needed we will name two or three options and let you buy directly.
What happens to our data?
Client data stays inside the engagement. We sign your NDA or use ours, restrict access to the consultants on your project, and return or destroy working files at closure on request. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
